Finance Minister Calls for Stronger World Bank Support

Finance Minister Calls for Stronger World Bank Support—-Ghana‘s push for stronger international support received a boost on Friday, April 11, as Wencai Zhang, the Managing Director and Chief Administrative Officer of the World Bank Group, paid a working visit to the Ministry of Finance in Accra.

The visit, hosted by Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, centered on deepening collaboration in critical sectors of the economy, including agriculture, energy, and transport.

Dr. Forson used the opportunity to call for increased World Bank assistance, particularly in scaling up agricultural productivity and energy infrastructure. He also proposed the idea of a World Bank regional office in Ghana to strengthen ties and fast-track development efforts across West Africa.

Zhang, in turn, expressed the Bank’s commitment to supporting Ghana’s development goals and noted the importance of ongoing partnerships in transforming key sectors.
