UNESCO and Ghana Partner on AI to Boost Innovation

UNESCO and Ghana Partner on AI to Boost Innovation—–UNESCO and Ghana have embarked on a transformative partnership aimed at harnessing artificial intelligence (AI) to drive innovation across critical sectors. The collaboration seeks to integrate AI into education, healthcare, agribusiness, and culture, while also establishing a centralized data system to streamline information management and improve accessibility.

The initiative was set in motion following a pivotal meeting between UNESCO representatives and Ghana’s Minister for Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovations, Hon. Samuel Nartey George (MP). During this discussion, both parties explored strategies to bolster Ghana’s AI capabilities and enhance its innovation landscape.

The partnership will deploy AI to revolutionize digital education by improving learning experiences and broadening access to quality education. In the realm of digital healthcare, technological advancements are expected to simplify access to services and increase efficiency, making healthcare more responsive to the needs of the population. The agribusiness sector stands to benefit as well, with plans to digitize farming processes that will empower farmers to work more intelligently and boost productivity. Additionally, the initiative aims to harness AI in the cultural sector, promoting Ghana’s rich heritage and expanding revenue opportunities within the creative arts.

Sam George stressed the importance of this approach, seeking UNESCO’s support to innovate Ghana’s cultural space and showcase its vibrant traditions on the global stage.

Central to this comprehensive strategy is the creation of a centralized data system, which will consolidate Ghana’s data resources to enhance decision-making and support various development projects. This will see Ghana leveraging technology to address critical challenges and create new opportunities across key sectors, ultimately improving the nation’s technological strength.
