Mid-March 2025 Brings Expected Drop in Fuel Prices——-Motorists and households in Ghana can expect some relief at the pump as fuel prices are projected to decline in the second pricing window of mid-March 2025.

According to the Chamber of Oil Marketing Companies (COMC), petrol prices are expected to drop by 4.5%, while diesel will decrease by 3.8%.

Additionally, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) prices are set to fall by 3.9%, bringing some much-needed financial relief to consumers.

The anticipated price cuts come amid fluctuations in global crude oil prices and adjustments in forex exchange rates, two key factors that significantly impact fuel costs in Ghana.

In recent months, volatile global oil markets and exchange rate pressures have contributed to high fuel prices, increasing the cost of living and transportation expenses.

It said the reduction will ease the financial burden on businesses and households that have struggled with rising fuel costs.

However, the decline in fuel prices could lower transportation costs, potentially leading to marginal reductions in the prices of goods and services.

Businesses that depend on fuel, including transport operators and manufacturing companies, are likely to benefit from lower operational costs.

Moreover, experts caution that price reductions may vary based on individual oil marketing companies (OMCs), as they make final adjustments before the new prices take effect.

The new fuel prices are expected to be implemented by mid-March 2025, pending final reviews by oil marketing companies.

While the reduction brings temporary relief, analysts warn that future fluctuations in global oil prices and foreign exchange rates could influence subsequent adjustments.
